CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY 3
In this module, there are one
mid-term test and one assignment for us to access my
Taylor’s Graduate Capabilities. In the mid-term test, we need to study Chapter
1 which are the introductions of the industrialized building system (IBS) for
the exam. This chapter also one of my favourite chapter in this module. In this
chapter, I learned that IBS system is quite commonly in Malaysia. For the
assignment, we need to form a group around 5 people, and then find a site to
visit which must be IBS on it. Hence, we found a site (Kuala Langat Indah Dan
Harmoni) which located at banting. At the site, we saw the Portal Frame which
is one of the IBS system. Besides the
sketches and drawings, I learned how to communicate with the officers or
surveyors or contractors at the construction site (Kuala Langat Indah Dan
Harmoni). In the construction site, safety measure is an important issue for
all the worker, visitor or staff. .
In conclusion, I had received a lot of knowledge in this semester. I believed
that I will be used my knowledge that study in this module when I go to work.
MEASUREMENT

In this module, there are one
mid-term test and one assignment for us to access my
Taylor’s Graduate Capabilities. Both of test and assignment are focused on same
chapter (Window & Door) which we studied at the first half of semester 3.
In the assignment, our group choose level 30 & level 31 of Tabung Haji for our
building to measure the window and door of it. There is no windows inside the
drawings, so we just measuring the door details only. There are a lot of things that not given in
the drawings, so we need to assume and scale for it. For examples, type of
ironmongeries and door frame details are not given in legend. We also required to assume some
thickness of the door frame and door leaf. Besides thickness, we need to assume
the type of the paints used for the doors. In
addition, differences in writing-up descriptions for different door leaf and
painting also important in doing the Bills of Quantities. In conclusion, I had
received a lot of knowledge in this semester. I believed that I will be used my
knowledge that study in this module when I go to work.
BUILDING SERVICE 2
This module is an important
subject for us to understand the principles of service systems in a building. We
are required to study some basics knowledge before we worked as a quantity
surveyor. In this module, I learned how to extinguish the fire when there is an
occurrence of fire. For the assignment, our lecturer, Mr Teh Bin Sin required
us to select one of the topics of this module and find a building as our case
study and then present it. For our group, we choose fire protection system as
our topic and Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus, Block E for our case study. We
faced some problem when we were preparing the report. We don’t ever know that
which type of fire protection system used at Block E, so we find the officer at
Taylor’s University and asked them for the detail. In this assignment, I
learned how the fire protection system works and functions at different
situations. For the presentation, I learned how to present clearly and
communicate with each others. In conclusion, I had received a lot of knowledge
in this semester. I believed that I will be used my knowledge that study in
this module when I go to work.
MANAGEMENT SCIENCE
To be honestly, for me Management
Science is the subject which I not really familiar and it is totally new thing
for me at the beginning of the semester 3. This module is an important subject
for us to understand the principles of management in several ways. It is really
useful for us when we work as a team. In fact, I learned a lot of skills in this
module such as time management, leadership, communication, human resource
management and others. In all the chapter of this module, time management is my
favourite topic that I learned because my group was doing this topic in the
assignment. For the assignment, we need to produce a video about the topic that
given by lecturer. Brainstorming is an important issue when we are doing our
video, we must think a lot of idea to make the video more interesting. Besides, I also learned how to manage time in
my daily life after I studied this module. In conclusion, I had received a lot
of knowledge in this semester. I believed that I will be used my knowledge that
study in this module when I go to work.
